What I'm Reading Wednesday

Lots of thoughts have been swirling in my head since I read Shannan Martin's book, Falling Free.  First off, I had the privilege of being part of her book launch team and I can say that this book is thought-provoking, honest, real and packed full of vulnerability!  Shannon's story begins as she walks us through her family's journey from purchasing their dream home farmhouse, to giving it all up, and moving to the city.  Many of us have specific dreams and desires of how we want our life to play out.  There's nothing wrong with that, but sometimes God has different plans for our life.  Sometimes we are resistant to God when he changes our plans.  But just like Shannan, I too, have experienced a different life than what I dreamt would happen, and it is far better.  When we follow God's leading it isn't always easy, it can be full of fear and insecurities but if we can step out in faith, it can led to a richer, fuller life.  Her book is one that prompts change. I feel like we constantly need to be reexamining our life and see if there are things we need to do differently in order to be more intentional with the people and things God has place in our lives.   Way to go, Shannan, for speaking so boldly and not conforming to the ways of this world!  Her book comes out next week, go and get it, I highly recommend it!

I received this free book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.
"Readers love Tozer the way we love friends who tell the hard truth.  The truth is often bitter, but if we are wise, we will drink it down, and then be thankful."

A.W. Tozer was a man who told it like it is.  He didn't sugar-coat it and he was bold in his convictions.  Culture by A.W. Tozer contains 24 selections of Tozer's writings about what it means to be a Christian in a world that isn't interested in Christianity.  It's important to be reminded of our identity in Christ and that this isn't our forever home.   Tozer brings us timeless truths that we need to remember and live out today.
