What I'm Reading Wednesday

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon and some of the evening reading Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist.  I don't know if I've ever read a whole book in one day but this one was quite the page turner and I loved it!  I've read all of Shauna's book, Cold Tangerines, Bittersweet and Bread & Wine, so I was thrilled to be able to review her newest book.   A few years ago Shauna decided that living a frantic, busy life wasn't for her anymore.  She started to implement changes in her life so that she could live a more simpler, soulful way of living.  I can totally relate to Shauna and how life can sometimes run us, rather than us running it.  Too often we say yes to too many things, believe that we can do it all, or not want to disappoint a person by sayings "no."  As women, we often put our needs last or ignore the fact that our body and soul needs rest and rejuvenation.  I love that Shauna not only shares her journey towards a life of meaning and connections, but invites us to examine our own life and make some changes.

Personally, over the last couple of years I've felt the same way Shauna did.  My life was packed full of busyness and there were times I was frantically living.  I've made some changes already, but I know that I still have work to do.  The main change is that I would like to do everything out of rest.  Rest for my body and soul must come first, before I can really do anything...at least half way decent, and with time bathed in prayer.   Life will never be perfect but I desire to be much more present through making sure I've allowed time for rest and savor each moment with the ones I love and care deeply about.

Every woman needs to read this book!
Do you feel overwhelmed with life?  Then it's for you!
Do you struggle with trying so hard to balance life with family, work, commitments, etc?  Then it's for you!
Do you have a hard time telling people "no?" Then it's for you!
Are you snappy, stressed and struggle with sleepless night?  Then it's for you!
If you answered "yes," do yourself a favor and buy the book!

*I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.
