Pearl Lake, CO

Earlier this month, we went on a camping trip for 4 days to one of our favorite places in Colorado!  Pearl Lake is one of the Colorado State Parks and is located 30 minutes north of the town of Steamboat Springs.  It is absolutely beautiful there and has plenty of things to do!
On one of the days, we attended a bug catching class at the Steamboat Lake Visitor Center.  They had  sweep nets that we use in the fields to catch as many bugs as we could.

Hahn's Peak was the backdrop to our bug-catching experience.  One day my husband would love to hike it!

Our dear friends let us borrow their kayak and my husband and kids loved it!

Things to do at Pearl Lake:
  • Pearl Lake Campground has only 38 sites, so reservation are a must!  We have stayed in site 9 and 37.  Site 9 has an amazing view!  Site 37 is closer to the water with a bit more privacy and shade.
  • You can paddle board, canoe or kayak but there is no swimming.  However, there is a swim beach at Steamboat Lake about 5 miles away.
  • Fishing is by artificial lure or fly-fishing only.
  • Easy hiking trails are close by and you can hike around the lake.
