What I'm Reading Wednesday

Just 18 Summers by Rene Gutteridge and Michelle Cox is a book that follows four families after the death of a beloved member of the community, Jenny Browning. Each are in a different seasons of life  and realize how fast their time with their children is...only 18 summers.

The book is written where each chapter is from a different character's point of view. The book is filled with humor and is very easy to read.  Even though this book is fiction, the book prompts the question as to how do we want to spend our summers with our own children?   I liked that it caused me to think about how I want to spend my summers with my kids.  I ultimately want to be intentional with them and make the most out of my 18 summers with them.

I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

The 5 Love Languages of Children by Gary Chapman and Ross Campbell is a great book about how to love your children more effectively.   The 5 love languages is not a new concept for me, as I read the original book probably 20 years ago.  However, I wanted to read this one since its emphasis is on children.  The love languages are all the same...physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service and gifts.  I do like that this book goes into detail about discovering your child's love language.  The book also talks about how to discipline your child and how to help your child learn, based on their love language, which I found most beneficial.
