Martin Luther King Jr. Historic Site

Our 1st stop in Atlanta was to the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic Site. Since we learned about MLK last year, this was a great stop!Georgia Trip-2_FD

This is the part of homeschooling that I love, taking them to places we have studied!

First we toured a museum and watched a video about his life. The kids liked the video and it reminded them about his life.Georgia Trip-4_FD

Next, we toured the church where Martin Luther King Jr. was a pastor, along with his father and grandfather.

We walked over to MLK’s burial site along with Coretta Scott King.

Our favorite part, was touring MLK’s childhood home.  I wasn’t allowed to take pictures inside, but it was a nice house and it was surprisingly a lot bigger than it looked from the outside.

These last 2 pictures are of the neighborhood around MLK’s house.

Our time at the MLK Historic Site was free. We did have to pick up tickets to see the house, but it was free too.
