Hanging Lake Trail, CO

This was by far my favorite hike of the summer! I’d been wanting to do the Hanging Lake trail for awhile and it didn’t disappoint!  It wasn’t an easy hike.  It wasn’t long either, but it was steep…one mile uphill.  The parking is a bit of a problem so arrive early or be prepared to wait a bit for a parking spot.

It felt like we were in the tropics in reality we were in the middle of the Rockies.  Too bad you can’t swim in the lake!IMG_2547

Things I’ve learned about hiking with kids…
-Wearing the right shoes makes all the difference. Keens are our favorites!
-Everyone carries their own water. We use hydration packs and the kids love them!
-Eat a good meal before you hike and bring snacks along. Trail mix or dehydrated fruit are our favorite!
-Don’t forget sunscreen and toilet paper…just in case someone has to go!
